Shilungwa Mining and Resources (SMR) is a diversified mining and resource services company delivering integrated solutions across the mining, construction and energy sectors. We combine technical expertise, modern equipment and a skilled workforce to execute projects efficiently, safely and sustainably.
One partner across the value chain
Many mining projects juggle separate contractors for exploration, earthworks, hauling, processing and closure. SMR is set up to cover that whole chain. Our thirteen service lines run from exploration, geotechnical and dredging services, through open cast mining, hauling and logistics, to material wash plants, grading, classification and refinement — and finally to pollution control dam construction and the rehabilitation of mines and borrow pits.
Clients can engage us for a single specialist scope or for an integrated package. Either way, the aim is the same: fewer interfaces, clearer accountability and work delivered to specification.
Led by hands-on experience
SMR was founded by Nkosinathi Mthembi, a results-driven construction and mining professional with extensive experience in project management, civil engineering and mining operations. He has led complex infrastructure and mining projects, and his focus on safety, quality and sustainability shapes how the company operates.
How we work
Every engagement follows the same simple approach. We assess — using geotechnical surveys, exploration and site analysis to understand the ground and the resource. We execute — mining, hauling, processing or building with the right equipment and competent crews. And we sustain — controlling pollution and rehabilitating land so that sites are left safe and usable.
